desert island food


an answer to the question
what food would you take
to a desert island?

grapefruit with the skin
slipped off
and the membrane peeled
from each succulent section

salty, biting blue cheese
crumbled before my eyes

glossy green baby spinach leaves
with beads of morning dew
still lingering upon
the veins
barely formed

each of these
glorious in their own right
would be combined

slippery grapefruit section
cradled in a wisp
of spinach leaf
upon which two crumbs
of blue cheese majestically rest

i would be content
on that desert island
to simply stave off hunger
and sit mesmerized before such
